Caring for Glenridding Common - The John Muir Trust

As winter kicks in on the hills we're working hard to document the ongoing work of The John Muir Trust who have been managing Glenridding Common for the past four years on behalf of the Lake District National Park.

Guardians of numerous wilderness habitats across the UK the trust have been working with the local community to restore and enhance the ecosystems present on the common, which lies above the village of Glenridding in Ullswater. The work being carried includes path maintainance, restoration of juniper plantations, protection of rare alpine plants and negotiation of grazing.

At the beginning of 2022 the trust will be looking to re-tender so they can continue their work and expand their Guardianship to cover the whole of the Helvellyn massif. Our film will be avialable to the public and also form part of the tender process, showing the progress and achievements of The John Muir Trust's work over the past four years. As always, it is a huge pleasure to be working on a project that serves to protect and conserve the landscape that means so much to us here in Cumbria.
