During the summer, a good friend and photographer Dave Willis contacted us to see if we would step in and provide some high end promotional film for his long standing client Lyon Equipment. Lyon are an employee owned company based in Tebay in Cumbria, just up the road from us here in Kendal. They produce bespoke equipment for work at height and rescue services, as well as being the biggest UK importer of outdoor/adventure equipment. As a production company we had a number of requirements to fulfil for the client - to provide footage that showed Lyon's production process end to end for the A+A Show in Germany, to create a reel for a trade stand at the Safety Services Show here in the UK, and to find a way to present the footage we had gathered as a self contained promotional video for Lyon's You Tube Channel and website. For this we decided to interview the founder of the company, Ben Lyon, just a few days after his 80th birthday. It was a real treat to work with such a professional team, a thriving local company, and a proud caver who started building ladders in his garage in 1965!
